In this unpredictable Drill – Discontinuous Numbers Advantage, the offensive and defensive numbers vary on each play (2-on-1, 3-on-2, 4-on-3), but not in fixed sequences.

Initial layout and description of the Drill – Discontinuous Numbers Advantage

Are distributed to the players evenly across the pitch. A player from each team in the centre circle with the ball. The rest of the players in each half court.

  • If there are 6, will be 3 couples. A player from each of the partner with the ball will start in center circle, and the other player without the ball will start within a triple of a half court.
  • If there are 7, there will be 2 pairs and a trio. In this case, the couples will be distributed in the same way that being 6 players and the trio will start with a player with ball in the center circle, and with a player without the ball within the triple of each half court.
  • If you are 8, we choose these two options:
    • 4 couples.
    • 1 couple and 2 threes.
  • If you are 9, 3 trios.
  • If you are 10, we choose these two options:
    • 5 couples.
    • 3 threes and 2 couples.
  • If you are 11,
    • 3 trios and 1 couple.
    • 1 trio and 4 couples.
    • 1 trio and 2 quartets.
  • If you are 12, we choose the following options:
    • 6 couples.
    • 4 trios.
    • 3 quartets. If you choose this option, there will be a player with the ball starting in the center circle, and 3 players without the ball scattered with a 1 in a triple-a half court and other 2 on the triple of the half court.

The main idea of the exercise is to vary continuously the degree of opposition to the time that we have a continuity in the exercise. We work to the attention of the players that will have to be always aware of the new game situations that are appearing.
In addition, we introduce the concept of help so natural and intuitive.

Variants

  • The players without the ball can leave the triple, both to attack and to defend.
  • The players without the ball can pass the half court and have total freedom of movements.
