The George Mikan Drill focuses on midrange finishing and touch using both hands, inspired by basketball legend George Mikan. Players practice drop-step, hook shots, and power finishes without defense—ideal for developing inside scoring mechanics and footwork.

Initial layout and description of the 1-on-0 – George Mikan Drill

You place a player with the ball under the basket.

Start the exercise being rotated to one side and crossing the foot further away.On that walk that has crossed will be the support that will hold the whipped topping and extend your arm doing a hook or a semi-hook (to know the difference between one and another we advise you to consult the links).

According drops the ball, you have to control it and perform the same movement to the other side.

Note: this Is an exercise cyclical and what matters is that the player is more slope to properly perform the supports. The success will come then and it is not a priority nor a criterion of achievement to determine who has performed well the game ft.

Variants

  • To perform the exercise with two balls to encourage the management of the ball.
  • There is a feint pass or output and then pull.
  • The need to perform a fake shot, then take a boat to move and throw.
  • You need to dial a certain number of baskets (consecutive or not) in a given time (can be individual target).
