The 5-Team Continuous Play Drill is a competitive game-based format where five teams rotate through short, high-intensity games. This structure encourages quick decision-making, fast transitions, and high player engagement. Initial layout and description
Make 5 teams with the same number of players (it is recommended that is a multiple of 5 -in the case of not being a multiple of 5, is shown below detailed the distribution of equipment). In case you do not have the same number of players, the teams with the most players may have some restrictions (number of boats or passes, possession with a certain number of seconds, etc…).
In each half court placed two teams, one team attacking and the other defending team. The fifth team is looking forward to what will be in the centre circle during the pendency of the two half courts. How much is resolved (retrieved defenders or write down attackers), the team of the center (the one who was in ‘stand by’) is directed to perform the attack to this half court. The team that was eliminated addresses with the ball with which they were playing at the circle in the center. In this way we encourage the concentration and work the reduction of the reaction time collectively.
Finally, we can stop the rotation, ‘natural’ (after attack, they defend and then to defend it goes to the center circle to be in ‘stand by’), or you may honor defense (only scores the team to successfully defend). The advantage of this exercise is the amplitude of players that allows you to. From 5 players to 25 players. We don’t usually have more than 12 per session. Now, how to climb 3 more are already 15 and you can make teams of 3. To get to 20 or 25 would have to try something quite exceptional (the absence of a companion, or a day of selection). In case you have a number of players that is not a multiple of 5 it is recommended that the following distribution (in addition to restrictions on the computer that has numerical superiority):
- 5 players: 1 player on each of the 5 teams.
- 6 players: 4 players individual and 2 in the same team.
- 7 players: 3 individual players and 2 teams of 2 players.
- 8 players: 2 players, single and 3 teams of 2 players.
- 9 players: 1 player and 4 teams of 2 players.
- 10 players: 2 players in each of the 5 teams.
- 11 players: 4 teams of 2 players and 1 team of 3 players.
- 12 players: 3 teams of 2 players and 2 teams of 3 players.
- 13 players: 2 teams of 2 players and 3 teams of 3 players.
- 14 players: 1 team of 2 players and 4 teams of 3 players.
- 15 players: 3 players in each of the 5 teams.
- 16 players: 4 teams of 3 players and 1 team of 4 players.
- 17 players: 3 teams of 3 players and 2 teams of 4 players.
- 18 players: 2 teams of 3 players and 3 teams of 4 players.
- 19 players: 1 team of 3 players and 4 teams of 4 players.
- 20 players: 4 players in each of the 5 teams.
- 21 players: 4 teams of 4 players and 1 team of 5 players.
- 22 players: 3 teams of 4 players and 2 teams of 5 players.
- 23 players: 2 teams of 4 players and 3 teams of 5 players.
