1-on-1 – Low Post Finishing Drill

The 1-on-1 – Low Post Finishing Drill is designed to develop footwork, strength, and touch around the basket. One player receives the ball in the low post and works against live defense to score using pivots, fakes, and strong finishes. This drill improves post positioning, body control, and decision-making under pressure—key components for effective inside scoring.

Initial layout and description

At the beginning of the exercise there is uncertainty because the roles are not pre-established.
Each player is placed at the height of the taco (with one foot stepping on the taco and another day closer to the basket). Coach, located in the Free-Kick, start the exercise by passing the ball to one of the two players. The player who receives the ball on attack and the other that it has not received defends.

Recommendation: in case of availability of court as a whole, you can do that when the defender to recover the ball attack another ring next to the attacker that was not the last to touch the ball.

Variants

  • The attacking player can make a pot.
  • You need to complete before a particular time.
  • The attacking player must make another end after scoring the basket.
  • Edit location of reception of new attackers (two feet out of the area or the two feet within the area).

Note: all variants are combinable.
