11-Man Fast-Break Drill

The Exercise of counter-attack of 11, also known as 11 (to dry), it is an exercise in very handy and used ad nauseum to heat and work situations 3×2 continuously.

The 11-Man Fast-Break Drill, commonly known simply as “11,” is a popular warm-up and transition exercise featuring continuous 3-on-2 sequences. Although often mislabeled as a fast break, the presence of two defenders waiting distorts realism—it never truly becomes a live fast break. This drill helps players practice offensive numerical advantage and quick decision-making during transition.
Note: To correct this inconsistency, we strongly recommend the Exercise of counterattack REAL 11.

Despite having ceased to use it, what’s included in the website since I know that will help coaches to begin training (like me served to me).

Initial layout and description of the 11-Man Fast-Break Drill

The 11 players are distributed in the following way:

  • 3 attackers out of the middle court,
  • 2 defenders on each half court (4 in total),
  • and 4 players in each extension line-free throw.

At the start of the exercise the 3 attackers play towards one of the 2 half courts. The 3×2 is resolved when the attackers mark basket, or when the 2 defenders recover the ball. Once resolved the situation, 3×2, is played to the other basket.
If there was a basket, the attacking player closest to the ball will pick you up and what will happen to one of the two co-located in the extension of the free kick to go towards the other basket, next to another that is in the other band.
If there was a recovery or rebound defensive, the defender got the ball back is what will happen, also, the companion of the band nearest to you.

In the case of a number other than 11, you can play it in the following ways:

  • With 9 players, are placed the same-only that in a half court there will be only 2 players defenders. When you play in the half court, if the attackers mark, will continue the 3 and if they retrieve the defenders:
    • is iran next to the last attacker who touched the ball, or
    • is iran next to the first player of the ancient attackers who gets to half court (with the intention of rewarding the balance defensive).
  • With 10 players, is placed just like that with 11 players, unless one of the 4 prongs of the free throw lane is empty. When you solve the 3×2 in the half court where there is only one player in the band, it will incorporate the first player to reach half court (regardless of whether there was a basket or theft) to the new attacking team.
  • With more than 12 players are dealt to the players extra in the extensions of line for a free kick.

Variants

  • You can only finish with an entrance to the basket.
  • You can only pull 2 points.
  • Only you can pull out of the restricted zone.
  • You can only pull 3 points.
  • You play without boat.
  • There is a limit of boats per player each time that it receives.
  • There is a limit of passes per team on field of attack.
  • Can be made with just one ball. In this case, the exercise is more realistic and tunes the speed of reaction of the players having to get behind the back line in case of fit basket or pass to the bands for the output of contrataque in case of theft, recovery or rebound defensive.
  • In case of rebound offensive, will not return to play. The player who caught the rebound offensive starts an attack towards the other ring with the players that were stationed in the prolongation of the line free kick.
