The Off-Ball Screen Drill – For the Cutter is designed to improve timing, reading, and execution when using indirect screens. Players simulate various reads—curl, fade, straight cut—depending on the defender’s position and the angle of the screen. This drill sharpens footwork, decision-making, and scoring efficiency after separation, and is essential for teaching smart off-ball movement in any offensive system.

Initial layout and description
Make two rows. All players of the left row with the ball (except the first row). In the right-hand side, a row of players without the ball.
The first player on the left row, without ball, set out to put a Lock Indirect in the header. Although there is no defender, will sink to the advocate, imaginary.
Meanwhile, the next player with the ball of the left row, proceeds to bounce with the left hand.
The first player of the row right (without the ball), will sink to the advocate, imagination and will to take the Lock Indirect primary.
The player who was bouncing the ball will be a handy change and give a pass on pot (with right hand) and the player who just took the Lock Downstream receive path to the basket to finish with an entrance to the basket.
After finishing, the player who put the Lock Indirect will go to the row without the ball (right row), the player who gave the pass will go to put the next Lock Downstream in the header, and the player who made the entry (which was taker), will catch your ball and will be placed in the row of balls (left row).
Variants
- The coach can be placed in order to accustom the makers of the Lock Indirect to observe to see if they are persecuted (then will curl the BI to receive the pass on court), or whether the defender will cut out (then float up to receive and throw in).
- You can ask the makers of the Lock Indirect perform Step Zero to get to make the entry without the need of throwing them away. You can also request that made Zero Step to make a stop in 3 times.
- The coach can be placed with the pin to ‘force you’ to perform a side pot to improve the angle of the pass.
