In the 3-on-3 – Role-Based Rebounding Drill, players rotate roles (offense, defense, rebounder) with each possession. Each team must secure the rebound then push the ball, promoting live rebounding habits, transition awareness, and responsiveness to missed shots.

Initial layout and description of the 3-on-3 – Role-Based Rebounding Drill
We divided the group by sub-groups of 3 players.
Start 3 defenders placed just below the semi-circle of free throws and 3 attackers just above the free-throw line. The trainer (and the trainer’s assistant) place(s) at 45-degrees.
The coach pulls up to the basket. The 3 defenders should close the rebound and 3 attackers to load the rebound.
- If the rebound is an advocate shall only pass to the coach (in case you have a second coach, you will be able to choose which coach you pass).
- If the rebound is of an attacker, this will end. The defenders must defend.
- If the attacker brand, pulls the ball out and they loaded the bounce pass to defend (the defending is placed in the row of shifts).
- If the attacker fails, and the rebound is an advocate, he must get to coach more accessible to the opposition of the attackers were carrying the rebound.
And so are happening shifts. Are scoring rounds to give more intensity to the exercise:
- 1 point by rebound defensive.
- 1 point for a rebound to be offensive, and 1 point for basket accomplished.
- 1 point in case of stealing pass out to band.
Competitive Mode
You can do the competition for the sub-groups (each group of 3 players), more feasible in case you have an odd number of groups.
You can make a competition combining vibrations. Group 1 (Blue) and Group 3 (Green) in the same computer, and Group 2 (Red) and Group 4 (Brown) on another computer.
You can set the target score 10-15 points per round.
Variants
- You can change the distribution of the participants by performing the releases from:
- Header: A defender in the Post Under and another in the Free Kick. An attacker in each corner or 45 ° and the third attacker in the header.
- Corners: A defender in the Post Under and another in the Free Kick. The attackers will be able to load the rebound from the other 4 positions 5 open that are free.
- You can give options to give you more game to 3×3:
- giving them a pot to get the ball in case of rebound defensive.
- giving a pass to finish in case of rebound offensive.
- The group that is made with the rebound and successfully resolves repeats role (either in attack with a basket or in defense with a pass-out).
- The coach (or the two coaches), they can go to get to the corner for easy pass.
- Applicable also in degrees of opposition from 2×2 and 4×4) (5×5 also in case you have 15 -3 sub-groups – and in case you have 20 players can perform on the court whole with two sub-groups in each half court if we are lucky enough to have a second coach).
- The team that captures the rebound comes out to play a 2×1 in the other basket. The defender will be the player who receives the pass output.
- Exercise 1×1 – Rebound elbow to Elbow
- Exercise 1×1 – Bouncing, Face-to-Face
- Exercise 2×2 – Bounce Crossed
- Exercise 3×3 – Bounce Crossed
