
The classic Tag Game is a foundational activity for warm-ups and physical literacy. One or more players chase the others to tag them. It builds acceleration, change of direction, evasion skills, and is easy to adapt to group size or space.
Objectives

- Automate the pot.
- Improve the coordination dynamics.
- To dissociate the look of the ball.
Recommended age

- From 6 years onwards (School and Minibasket: categories pre-benjamin, benjamin, and fry).
Number of players

- From 3 players forward. One is caught and the other players to avoid being caught.
Recommended time

- Total duration of the game 7-10 min.
Equipment and facilities

- 1 Basketball player.
- You can make this game in a open space or in a field (whether half or whole).
- If we are short of material, only the one who is caught with the ball.
- If we are enough materials, all with the ball except the one that catches.
- If there are many players, or the space is small, you can make that catch pot two balls.
Initial layout and description of the Tag Game
There is a player who is league (the pocha or leads). This can have a ball (or not, depending on the difficulty level you want for the game).
In case of carrying the ball, you should wear a cone or any material striking that serve to differentiate themselves from the others. The others each have a ball.
The league starts in the center circle, and the others are spread across the side lines and the background. The limits are those of the home court, or one previously established by the Coach.
The signal of the start of the game. The league must touch a player (no need to grab). At that time, they exchange roles (in case you have the two balls, the one that was caught, to change your role, you must also take the cone or material striking differentiator). In case of out of the set limits, the amount to be captured.
Safety note: if you perform the exercise with players of 6-7 years, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to divide them into two groups and take care of the density of players by space. More than anything because they are not experts veteran in this game so basic and can cause collisions.
Variants
- Dribble with the hand non-dominant.
- Bounce to a specific height (at the height of the knee, hip, shoulder, at the height of the head, above the head, etc…).
- The league boot two balls.
- Put a second player who is also the ligue. Recommended from 8-9 players, or if the space is large.
- Only those who bind have the ball.
- Another option, is if all of you have the ball (including the link, you will then have the cone or the material, eye-catching), which has a ball extra, which serves to be protected or immunized against which it is linked. This ball can be passed on to someone who is being persecuted and that you ask for it (it is very important that you are asking to avoid balonazos unnecessary -this point should be made VERY clear).
