The Chest pass is the pass to the most basic of our sport. The first thing that you learn intuitively derived from the instinctive desire to share the ball with a play partner. It makes catching the ball with two hands and holding it at chest height.

Objectives for the teaching of the Chest pass

  1. Locate the target.
  2. Maintain a balanced stance.
  3. Catch the ball with two hands and fingers facing upward and slightly backward.
  4. Give the pass with the ball coming out from the height of the chest.
  5. Take a step in the direction of the pass.
  6. Push the ball with the index finger, heart finger and thumb.
  7. Finish with palms out and fingers outstretched.

Most common errors

  1. Do not locate the target.
  2. He loses his balance.
  3. Gets evil the ball and/or directs the wrong toes and gives a pass to be defective. 
  4. The ball comes out from a different height than that of the chest and makes it difficult to use the joints to give the pass.
  5. Does not give the pass and the pass loses tension.
  6. Do not use the index finger, heart finger and thumb to push the pass. The ball leaves with difficulties.
  7. It ends with the palms toward or down and the pass does not have the forces.

While it is true that the Chest pass is the most common in Basketball, as the game evolves and players are more mature and experienced, are used less. You just need to watch a game on tv to see that rare are the times that are of a Chest pass since the defenders force you to improve the angle of the pass.
