COVID-Safe Handkerchief Game

game, games, basketball

The COVID-Safe Handkerchief Game is a no-contact adaptation of the classic “handkerchief game”, redesigned for safe play during health-restricted periods. Players react to a signal and sprint to complete an assigned action (like shooting or passing) instead of grabbing an object. It promotes explosive reaction, focus, and safe competition, ideal for maintaining intensity without physical contact.
Note: Game devised for the adaptation to the situation of Covid-19, including in the Collection of games adapted to the Covid-19.

Initial layout and description of the COVID-Safe Handkerchief Game

Are dealt to the players in two teams.

Once you have made the teams, each team will be placed around the free-kick of his half court to be assigned numbers. This point is important because we will take advantage of the painted circle to make it easier and help to keep the safe distance and comply with the protocol of safety and hygiene as necessary to the situation of Covid-19.

Once assigned to the numbers, the players are placed behind the back line and will be distributed by the streets.
Meanwhile, the Coach will be in the middle of the court. How to see the two teams have been placed behind their respective lines in the background. You will begin with the first round.

The Coach calls out a number and the players who have that number assigned must dribble to half court and play with the foot (or hand – see variants) the cone closest to you. Meanwhile, will have to be changing direction and go towards the basket where is your team and score (previously the coach will be indicated if you make a throw, or an entry to the basket).

The team that before enceste in your basket, takes the point of the round. At the end the team wins who has reached a certain number of points (or the more you have if you look a certain duration of time).
Note: Although it may seem obvious, we have to take account of the total score as well as remind you of what numbers have come out (the participants were sting a lot with this game and it is important to maintain and respect the equality of opportunities).

Variants

  • Players must go around the cone.
  • Players must make a certain change of hand.
  • Have to pull from a certain location.
  • You can say two-digit numbers and leaving the two players with the figures of the number of each computer (important to respect the safety distance, and also with the colleagues from the same computer).
  • You can say a number and then another. Win the team that before mark your two baskets.
  • You can say numbers in English.
  • Can be marked the numbers and work with the signs of the arbitration.
